From a original Shelby Mustang to a Supercharged C3 Corvette, Nick always has something extremely cool up his sleeve. Once again, Nick did not disappoint when he called us up to come and see his De Tomaso Pantera. His story is below
Some fathers bond with their sons over fishing trips or camping weekends. Others find it on the sports field. For Durban airline pilot Mark Ovenstone and his son Connor, that bond was forged in grease, metal shavings and late nights in the garage. Their shared love for hot rods didn’t just build a car—it built a legacy.
It might sound like an outrageous number, but since loadshedding resumed this year, we have had approximately 235 days of loadshedding (as of 01 September 2023). Currently, South Africans are experiencing Stage 6 of loadshedding, but as the stages fluctuate, we have done calculations with an average of 5 hours per day. Volkswagen has been, and probably always will be, immensely popular with car enthusiasts all across the world. The older stuff is especially cool, like the Beetle, Karmann Ghia and of course, the Type 2 bus. The most sought-after ones are the first-generation T1 ones, built from 1950 – 1967. If in a pristine, restored condition, early model samples have sold for over $200 000 on auction in recent times. Crazy I know, but hey if the demand is there, dollars will be spent.
