For many car enthusiasts, owning a Ford GT40 is the ultimate dream. Born from one of the greatest rivalries in motorsport history, the GT40 became legendary after dominating Le Mans in the late 1960s. While original GT40s are rare and extraordinarily valuable, dedicated enthusiasts around the world keep the spirit alive by building highly detailed replicas that capture the essence of the original race cars.

This particular build was exactly that — a passion project built over nearly four years, focused on performance, authenticity, and race-inspired engineering.

I pop in to see Bradley Lightening and Greg over at Speedway Auto from time to time to check out what projects they have on the go. Sometime in 2014, during one of those visits to their workshop, I noticed the incomplete nose of a Ford F-100 peeking out from around the corner. It was impossible to miss, especially after it had just received a flawless Skoda Red paint job courtesy of Dane and Gordon Thompson at The Paint & Panel Shop.

The Porsche 914 has always been one of the most interesting cars in Porsche’s history. Originally designed as a lightweight mid-engine sports car developed through a collaboration between Porsche and Volkswagen, the 914 delivered exceptional balance and driving engagement. But every now and then, a build comes along that pushes the platform far beyond its original intentions.

This 1971 Porsche 914 is one of those builds. Imported from the United States and extensively modified, it blends classic Porsche engineering with raw American V8 performance, wrapped in a dramatically widened body that transforms the car into something truly unique.
